Distinguished Family Law Specialist Barry McGough Joins Venerable Warner, Mayoue, Bates & McGough

Noted Family Law attorney Barry B. McGough has joined the law firm of Warner, Mayoue, Bates & McGough here, confirming the firm’s status as the largest family law practice in the Southeast and one of the largest and most respected specialty firms in the United States.

Long recognized as one of Georgia’s most renowned and respected Family Law attorneys, Barry McGough has arguably been one of Georgia’s most influential matrimonial attorneys for the past 25 years. In addition to writing the landmark Georgia Divorce in 1981, McGough has written countless articles for the Mercer Law Review, lectured extensively for both the Atlanta and Georgia Bar Associations, and has held some of the highest positions possible for a Family Law attorney including President of the Georgia Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and Chairman of the Family Law Section of the Georgia State Bar.

“ We couldn’t be happier to have someone of Barry’s character and legal caliber join our firm,” said longtime friend and colleague Wilbur Warner. Firm partner Ned Bates concurred. “Barry is an extraordinary lawyer and we’re extremely pleased that he has chosen to join our practice. Many of us have had cases with Barry over the years and he’s always been someone we highly respected and knew we could trust.”

McGough comes to Warner, Mayoue, Bates & McGough after 12 years managing his own firm and more than 36 years of practicing law in Atlanta. Admitted to the Georgia State Bar in 1971, McGough spent the first 14 years of his career doing civil litigation including a number of years with Legal Aid, before dividing his career among four other firms in Atlanta. In addition to his other accolades, McGough has been repeatedly listed among the Best Lawyers in America, placed on the Top 100 Lawyers in Georgia list and has been recognized as a Super Lawyer for five consecutive years.

Warner, Mayoue, Bates & McGough is one of Atlanta’s most exclusive and successful domestic relations law firms serving select clients across the country and around the world. Our team of 25 highly-skilled attorneys specializes in complex matrimonial dissolution, as well as other family law issues including alimony, custody and child support, post-decree modification and enforcement, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, paternity claims, and adoption.
